Material Plane
Where our physical bodies exist. Where you sit, there, reading this page. The Earth, the
sun whose heat we feel and light we live by, the moon whose light we hunt by. For many
people, the only plane of existence that they ever think about. The "real world". This
is the material plane.
Astral Plane
The astral plane exists parallel to the material plane. It can be accessed by a method known as
"astral projection", whereby one projects a portion of oneself outside one's body, and into the
astral plane. There are many books that offer assistance on astral projection, so I will not
be offering an explanation here, at this time.
The astral plane is much like the material plane, with a few glaring differences. The first
is actually not glaring at all, but a lack of glare. When traveling the astral,
everything looks "dim", as if you are looking at the world through a gray filter.
A second difference is this: flight is possible for all beings in the astral plane,
using thought and will alone. One who travels the astral has no physical form (at least
not like we have here on Earth), so all movement is controlled by thought instead of
muscles. As one would expect, once one gets used to the whole idea, this makes getting
from one place to another much quicker and easier than getting around here on Earth. The
cool thing is, one can actually use the astral plane, in a sense, to get around here
on Earth. If you can visualize a place here on Earth that you wish to travel to, you can
get there using the astral plane. You would not actually go there physically, but you
would be able to observe what was going on at that place on Earth during the time you were
there. This type of travel takes a great deal of practice to master.
Dream Realms
When we dream, we are sometimes in our own heads, our "own little place". Other times, we step out into
the dream realms, where many other dreamers are also dreaming, and living in their dreams. Entering the
dream realms can be very similar to astral travel, and the two are sometimes intertwined, depending on
how much of ourselves we project into the realm.
The core of the dream realms is "natural". I will admit that I do not know who created it; I only know
it was not created by us. However, the majority of the dream realms were built by humans, through our
dreams. There are fantastic and beautiful things there, but also horrible, depraved, and terrible things,
all built from the thoughts and images we build in our minds. It is the ultimate creator's playground;
if you can imagine it, you can find it there, if you know where to look.
The dream realms are bound to our world by natural cords, and also by our minds. They are a subset of a
larger set of worlds, which I just call "the Realms", though others have other names for them. I will
expand on the Realms in another section, below, titled "Outer Realms".
When most people first visit the dream realms, they are unaware that they have stepped outside their usual
boundaries of dreaming. Some spend years in the dream realms before they realize where they are; before
they realize the people they have been interacting with in their dreams are thought projections of real
people, elsewhere on Earth. Once this realization and connection is made, it opens new doors for
further exploration, possibilities, and wisdom.
